According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, chemical imports in March 2020 increased by 26.9% compared to February 2020. Total turnover in the first quarter of 2020 increased by 5% compared to the first quarter of 2019.
Chemicals were imported the most from the mainland China market, in March 2020 reached 199.41 million USD, up 86.4% compared to February 2020. Total turnover in the first quarter of 2020 reached $427.69 million, up 12.4% over the same period in 2019, accounting for 30.4% of the country's total import turnover.
Chemical imports from Taiwan (China) market in March 2020 reached US$60,543 million, down 7.65% compared to February 2020. Total first 3 months of 2020 reached 189.13 million USD, down 12.14% over the same period in 2019, accounting for 17.2% of total import turnover of the whole country.
Chemical imports from the Korean market in March 2020 reached 61.44 million USD, up 25% compared to February 2020. The total of the first quarter reached 145.54 million USD, up 37.2% over the same period in 2019, accounting for 8.5% of the total import turnover of the country.
In general, chemical import turnover from most markets in the first quarter of 2020 increased compared to the first quarter of 2019, of which imports increased sharply in markets such as:
- Although Russia imported very little of 5.11 million USD, compared to the first quarter of 2019 it increased by 432%.
- The Czech Republic is also one of the countries importing chemicals, which increased sharply from 334,965 USD in the first quarter of 2019 to 1.12 million USD in the first quarter of this year.
- Imports from Brazil also increased sharply by 63%, reaching 2.71 million USD in the first quarter of this year.
